Hair Color Trends Are All About Warmth

Hair Color Trends

Fall 2026 hair color is all about warmth. After seasons of icy blondes and cool, ashy brunettes, the pendulum has swung decisively in the other direction. The runways and salons are unanimous—this is the season of golden hour glow, spiced coppers, and rich, glossy brunettes that look like they were lit from within.

“Color should look believable, glossy and almost like it could have grown out of your head that way,” celebrity colorist Jenna Perry tells Net-a-Porter. The good news? You don’t need a dramatic transformation. You just need the right warm shade. Here are nine of the most gorgeous hues to try this season.

The Golden Blondes

If you’re not ready to give up your blonde, this is your season to warm it up.

1. Warm Blonde

The unexpected trend of the season, according to Teen Vogue, is a shift away from the icy platinum that’s reigned for years toward something richer. Think Tate McRae’s golden hue or Zara Larsson’s mermaid gold. “Warm blondes like golden, honey and caramel tones are a perfect way to transition from bright summer blonde to a more toned-down, dimensional fall look,” says celebrity colorist Meri Kate O’Connor. The secret? “Gold reflects light, so hair always looks shiny and warm.”

2. Hot Honey Blonde

For those who want to stay blonde but feel cozier, hot honey is the answer. “It has honey, gold, and soft caramel tones, but it should never look yellow or brassy,” explains stylist Rogerio Calvacante. “It feels sunlit, healthy, and less severe than an icy blonde.”

3. Maple Cream Blonde

This creamy, dark-blonde shade sits at the sweet spot between blonde and brunette. It’s all about dimension—ask your stylist for a smudgey root and blended lowlights in a shade or two darker than your base, finished with a warmer-toned gloss. “Gold, honey, and caramel tones are a nice way to tone down brighter, cooler blondes while still staying blonde into the fall,” says O’Connor.

The Rich Brunettes

Brunette is getting deeper, glossier, and warmer.

4. Dark Chocolate Brunette

“Dark chocolate brunette is rich, glossy, and always looks expensive,” says Calvacante. “After summer, many clients want to move away from overly lightened hair and bring back depth.” This shade does exactly that—without making the hair look flat or too dark. Zendaya’s signature hue is the ultimate inspiration.

5. Cinnamon Spice

“A rich brunette base infused with warm cinnamon and subtle copper undertones,” is how celebrity stylist Coree Moreno describes it. “Cinnamon spice feels cozy and luxurious while still looking modern and dimensional.” It gives dark hair depth and movement without becoming obviously red.

6. Cherry Mocha

This trend mixes a deep brunette base with subtle red or copper reflections. Vogue describes it as a combination that “adds intensity without being strident.” The beauty of cherry mocha is its versatility—it can look almost brown under certain lighting and reveal its reddish glints when the light hits it just right.

The Spiced Coppers & Reds

Red is the clearest color story of the season, but it’s more sophisticated than ever.

7. Burnt Copper

Burnt copper retains the personality of a classic copper but with much greater depth. Instead of a uniform orange, it combines copper with brown and reddish nuances. Vogue included it among the top color trends of 2026, noting that small highlights can help accompany the movement of your cut. The result is polished, healthy, and unmistakably autumnal.

8. Whiskey Copper

“Whiskey copper is the perfect fall red because it feels warm and sophisticated,” says Calvacante. “It combines copper, cinnamon, and soft auburn tones, giving the hair richness while still looking wearable.” It’s the ideal entry point for anyone wanting to experiment with red without committing to a bold, vibrant shade.

9. Tuscan Leather (Golden Chestnut)

The Tuscan leather shade moves between warm chestnut, golden, and subtle caramel nuances. It’s a perfect alternative for anyone who finds dark chocolate too intense but still wants a rich, warm base. Allure recommends asking for a dimensional, luminous finish rather than a uniform brown—this is a shade that lives in the light.

The common thread

across every one of these shades is shine. “Everyone’s obsessed with shiny, glossy-looking hair this season,” O’Connor tells Cosmopolitan. Whether you choose a golden blonde, a spiced brunette, or a deep copper, the goal is the same: healthy, luminous color that looks like it belongs to you.

This is not a season for high-maintenance bleach jobs or stark contrasts. It’s a season for softness, dimension, and warmth. Book the appointment. Bring photos. Ask for a gloss. And welcome the golden hour into your hair.
