The summer transfer window slams shut on September 1, and Premier League clubs are scrambling to finalise their squads. With less than a week to go, here are 10 deals that could still be completed before the deadline.
1. Bradley Barcola → Liverpool
Liverpool’s top priority is a wide attacker, and PSG’s Bradley Barcola is their main target. The French international wants the move and personal terms have been agreed, but the two clubs remain apart on valuation—PSG are holding out for around £145m.
Liverpool boss Andoni Iraola has confirmed the club will “definitely” make more signings before the deadline, admitting the squad is “still quite thin”. A new bid for Barcola is expected imminently.
2. Julian Alvarez → Arsenal
The Gunners have made an offer for the Atletico Madrid forward after the Spanish club named their price. Arsenal are looking to add a left-winger and could partially fund the deal through the departure of Gabriel Martinelli.
Talks are progressing, and Barcelona’s interest in other strikers could clear the path for Arsenal.
3. Savinho & Omar Marmoush → Tottenham
Tottenham have already spent £229.5m this summer, but Roberto De Zerbi isn’t finished. Spurs are in advanced talks with Manchester City for a sensational double swoop for Savinho and Omar Marmoush.
An agreement in principle has been reached for Savinho in a deal worth up to £85m, while Marmoush would arrive on loan with a £50m option to buy. Talks are advancing.
4. Alejandro Balde → Manchester United
With their midfield rebuild complete following the arrivals of Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Carlos Baleba, United have turned their attention to left-back.
Lewis Hall was their top target, but Newcastle’s demands have proven too high. Now United are pursuing Barcelona’s Alejandro Balde. Fabrizio Romano has confirmed United remain in contact with Balde’s agent, Jorge Mendes, though Balde is not personally pushing to leave the Camp Nou. A loan deal could be a possibility.
5. Ivan Toney → Manchester United
United are also in the market for a centre-forward. Ivan Toney has emerged as a candidate, particularly after Benjamin Sesko struggled to make an impact in United’s shock opening-day defeat to Hull City.
Other options being mooted include Freiburg’s Igor Matanovic and Club Brugge’s Nicolo Tresoldi.
6. Yankuba Minteh → Liverpool
If the Barcola deal proves too expensive, Liverpool have alternatives. They have already had a £50m bid rejected for Brighton winger Yankuba Minteh and are plotting a third offer.
Liverpool are prioritising at least one new winger and Minteh remains a serious option.
7. Ibrahim Mbaye → Liverpool
Liverpool’s move for PSG’s Ibrahim Mbaye is “progressing rapidly”. The 18-year-old Senegalese forward is seen as one for the future, but a deal could be bundled alongside Barcola’s.
8. Marcus Rashford → Chelsea
Chelsea are considering a shock late move for Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford. With Xabi Alonso’s side looking to strengthen their attacking options before the window closes, Rashford has emerged as a surprise target.
9. Liam Delap → TBC
Chelsea striker Liam Delap is expected to leave Stamford Bridge before the deadline. The forward had an underwhelming first season at the club and hopes to stay in the Premier League if he moves on.
Interest has been reported from Como, but Delap’s preference to remain in England means a Premier League exit is more likely.
10. Myles Lewis-Skelly → Manchester United or Chelsea
Arsenal’s teenage midfielder Myles Lewis-Skelly has been linked with an exit in the final days of the window. Chelsea and Manchester United are the main clubs reportedly interested.
Given United’s midfield rebuild is already complete, Chelsea may be the more likely destination—particularly if they need to replace Enzo Fernandez, who has been linked with a move to Manchester City.
