Will Silver Surfer Be in Avengers: Doomsday?

Avengers: Doomsday

With Avengers: Doomsday just months away (it hits theaters December 18, 2026), Marvel fans are obsessing over one cosmic question: will the Silver Surfer appear?

The short answer? Probably not — at least not in a major role. But as with anything in the Multiverse Saga, the long answer is more complicated.

🏄 The Silver Surfer We Know

Let’s start with what’s confirmed. Julia Garner (Ozark) is playing the Silver Surfer in the MCU. But here’s the twist: she’s not playing the classic Norrin Radd version that comic fans know. Instead, she’s playing Shalla-Bal — a female version of the character from an alternate reality known as Earth-828.

This version of the Surfer appeared in The Fantastic Four: First Steps as the herald of Galactus (played by Ralph Ineson). By the end of that film, she sacrificed herself to push Galactus through a portal, sending them both to “a distant corner of the galaxy”.

🚫 Why She Might Miss Doomsday

Here’s the problem: she’s stranded in another dimension with a very angry planet-eating god.

Collider has argued that based on her location and situation at the end of First Steps, the Silver Surfer “would not have the capability to appear in Avengers: Doomsday. The Fantastic Four themselves are crossing over from Earth-828 to join the battle against Doctor Doom, but there’s no indication their cosmic ally is coming with them.

Even the official Marvel page for Avengers: Doomsday lists a sprawling cast of heroes from three distinct universes — including the X-Men, the Fantastic Four, and legacy characters like Patrick Stewart’s Professor XThe Silver Surfer is notably absent from that list.

🔮 The Case FOR Her Appearance

Despite the odds, there are reasons to believe the Surfer could still show up.

1. The Multiverse Is Unpredictable

With Doomsday bringing together heroes from three different universes, it’s entirely possible that the Surfer could find her way to the fightScreenRant has noted that with Earth-828’s Fantastic Four joining the Avengers, “the only way the Silver Surfer may be able to remain in MCU canon is to travel to Earth-616”.

2. Rumors of a Larger Role

Scooper Daniel Richtman has reported that “there are plans for Silver Surfer [to] be in multiple projects after The Fantastic Four. And if you’re going to feature the Surfer in multiple projects, Doomsday or its sequel Avengers: Secret Wars would be the perfect place to put her front and centre.

3. The Norrin Radd Wildcard

Here’s another possibility: what if the classic Norrin Radd version of the Silver Surfer shows up instead? Doug Jones, who played the character in 2007’s Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer, has expressed interest in returning. And while Shalla-Bal is currently the “official” MCU SurferThe Direct has speculated that Norrin Radd could “offer a helping hand” in Doomsday.

🧩 What This Means for the MCU

The Silver Surfer is one of Marvel’s most iconic cosmic characters. Leaving her out of Doomsday would be a missed opportunity — but it might also be a deliberate choice.

If she’s being saved for Avengers: Secret Wars (due in 2027), her return would carry more weight. And with Marvel reportedly working on a solo “Silver Surfer” project, the studio clearly has big plans for the character beyond just one movie.

🎯 Will Silver Surfer be in Avengers: Doomsday

? The evidence suggests probably not in a major capacity — unless Marvel is keeping a massive surprise under wraps.

She’s currently lost in another dimension. She’s not on the official cast list. And her story in First Steps seemed designed to remove her from the board, not set her up for an immediate return.

But this is the Multiverse Saga. Rules are made to be broken. And if there’s one thing Marvel loves, it’s a surprise cameo.

So don’t write off the Silver Surfer just yet. She may not be surfing into Doomsday — but when she does return, it’s going to be spectacular.

Avengers: Doomsday hits theaters December 18, 2026. The Fantastic Four: First Steps is available now on Disney+.
