The Streaming Wars Heat Up: 7 New Movies and Series Worth Watching This Weekend

Movies and Series

It’s the last weekend of October and every platform just dropped their big guns at once. Netflix, Prime Video, HBO Max, ZEE5 and JioHotstar all have new releases on Friday, October 23, 2026 — perfect for a Dussehra weekend binge.

Here are the 7 worth your time, no filler:

1. Lupin Part 4 — Netflix — The Weekend’s Must-Watch

Lupin Part 4 Premiere, Friday, October 23, Netflix

After 3 years, he’s back. Omar Sy returns as Assane Diop, the gentleman thief. Inspired by the fictional gentleman thief Arsène Lupin, Lupin Part 4 arrives three years after Part 3 and will bring Omar Sy’s Assane Diop back after he decides to turn himself in, continuing the series’ signature fast-paced, elaborate heists.

The official synopsis: Assane escapes prison to prove his innocence against a mysterious copycat criminal who is framing his family. This time he faces his most complicated challenge yet.

All eight episodes will be available exclusively on Netflix with a subscription. All eight episodes drop at once — no weekly wait.

If you loved Money Heist and Ocean’s 11, this is your weekend.

2. The Invite — HBO Max / ZEE5 — The Dark Comedy Everyone Will Talk About

In this delightful comedy, a married couple (Seth Rogen and director Olivia Wilde) invite their new neighbors (Edward Norton and Penélope Cruz) over for a dinner party and what begins as an awkward get-together only gets stranger when the guests begin to intimate that they’d like to hook up with their hosts.

The 2026 dark comedy The Invite, directed by Olivia Wilde and starring Seth Rogen and Penélope Cruz, is set to release on OTT in India on ZEE5. In the United States, the film is available on digital and streaming on HBO Max on October 23, 2026.

It’s A24-style cringe-comedy meets swinging comedy. Olivia Wilde directing herself while Seth Rogen panics is exactly as good as it sounds. Premiered at Telluride, 89% on Rotten Tomatoes.

Where to watch The Invite: Premieres on October 23 on HBO Max】 in the US.

3. Gajab Raat — Netflix — Manoj Bajpayee Does What He Does Best

Title: Gajab Raat | OTT Platform: Netflix | Release Date: October 23, 2026

Manoj Bajpayee’s Gajab Raat is another title attracting attention among this week’s digital releases. It’s a crime drama — Bajpayee plays a middle-class man whose one bad night turns into a city-wide manhunt.

Think Fargo in Old Delhi. If you liked Sirf Ek Bandaa Kaafi Hai and Killer Soup, this is darker and funnier.

Perfect for a late-night watch.

4. The Terminal List Season 2 — Amazon Prime Video — Chris Pratt Is Back Angry

Amazon Prime Video’s new TV and movie releases for the week of October 19-25 include The Terminal List Season 2.

Season 1 was Prime’s most-watched thriller of 2022. Season 2 picks up with James Reece (Pratt) off the grid, hunting the conspiracy that killed his SEAL team and family — now with Taylor Kitsch and Constance Wu.

8 episodes, all dropping this week. Gritty, tactical, very dad-thriller but done well. If you want action without thinking too hard after Lupin, this is it.

5. Chaar Yaar — Amazon Prime Video — The Indian Heist You Didn’t Expect

Title: Chaar Yaar | OTT Platform: Amazon Prime Video | Release Date: October 23, 2026

Chaar Yaar follows four young men from modest backgrounds in early-2000s Mumbai who turn to stealing luxury cars in the hope of improving their financial circumstances.

Think Dhoom meets Scam 1992. Early 2000s Mumbai, Nokia phones, and luxury cars that didn’t have GPS. The eight-episode crime drama is getting early buzz for its cast of newcomers and surprisingly emotional core.

Underdog pick of the weekend.

6. Sumo Didi — ZEE5 — The Feel-Good Sports Story

Sumo Didi streams on ZEE5, and is scheduled for October 23, 2026.

Based on the true story of Hetal Dave, India’s first female sumo wrestler. Shriyam Bhagnani plays the girl from Mumbai who goes to Japan to fight in a sport that doesn’t want women.

If you need a break from heists and killings, this is your Dangal meets Atypical cry-and-cheer movie. Directed by Jayant Rohatgi, produced by Jio Studios.

7. The Legend of Hanuman Season 7 — JioHotstar — For The Family Binge

The final Friday of October brings a fresh lineup — the much-loved animated mythological series The Legend of Hanuman Season 7.

Sharad Kelkar voices Ravan, Sanket Mhatre voices Hanuman. Season 7 covers the Nagastra battle and Hanuman’s journey to Paatal Lok. Animation has leveled up massively since Season 1 — this looks like a movie.

If you have kids, or you grew up on Amar Chitra Katha, put this on Sunday morning. 7 episodes, ∼25 mins each.

What To Watch When?

Friday Night: Lupin Part 4 (episodes 1-3) + Gajab Raat
Saturday Night: The Invite with friends + Chaar Yaar
Sunday: The Terminal List Season 2 binge + Legend of Hanuman with family

Pro tip: Nani’s The Paradise also just dropped on Netflix on October 22, 2026 if you want an action drama before Lupin.
