No, this isn’t a movie. And no, it doesn’t undo Avengers: Endgame.But for the first time since 2019, the 61-year-old Oscar winner has filmed brand-new scenes as Tony Stark — and he’s bringing the Avengers with him.
Two New Rides, One Epic Comeback
Downey’s return comes in the form of two new attractions coming to Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure Park in Anaheim.
Avengers: Infinity Defense is the headliner — a star-studded dark ride that throws guests into a battle against none other than Thanos.Riders will travel through MCU locations like Asgard, Wakanda, and New York City, surrounded by massive physical sets blended with “huge media scenes” that simulate being right in the middle of an Avengers movie.The ride culminates with an appearance from Thanos himself, giving fans a chance to help Iron Man and the Avengers thwart his plans once again.
But that’s not all. Stark Flight Lab is a second attraction where Tony Stark serves as guests’ flight instructor, alongside Anthony Mackie’s Captain America and Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel.Riders will board a mechanical arm that tilts, rotates, and moves along a track, simulating a high-tech training experience designed by Stark himself.
Both attractions are set to open in 2028.
An All-Star Avengers Reunion
Downey isn’t flying solo. Disney has assembled an impressive roster of MCU veterans who have all filmed new scenes for the attractions:

The Doctor Doom Elephant in the Room
Here’s where it gets complicated. Later this year, on December 18, 2026, Downey will return to the MCU — but not as Iron Man.He’s playing Victor Von Doom, better known as Doctor Doom, in Avengers: Doomsday, followed by Avengers: Secret Wars in 2027.
