Jason Statham Is Back in The Beekeeper 2

The Beekeeper 2

What the First Trailer Reveals

Jason Statham is returning to one of his buzziest roles in years. On October 15, 2026, Amazon MGM Studios dropped the first official trailer for The Beekeeper 2, the sequel to Statham’s surprise 2024 action hit. And if the teaser is any indication, this one is even bigger, louder, and more unhinged than the original.

The trailer confirms that Statham is back as Adam Clay, the retired clandestine operative who trades in vengeance and beekeeping. But this time, the threat is personal in a whole new way—the Beekeepers, the very organization that made him, have gone rogue.

The Plot: The Beekeepers Have Gone Rogue

In the first film, Adam Clay was a seemingly unassuming beekeeper who turned out to be a retired assassin. When his kind-hearted landlady died as the result of a phishing scam, he came out of retirement and fought his way up the chain of command—all the way to the son of the President of the United States.

The sequel flips the script. According to the official synopsis, “The Beekeepers, Adam Clay’s former organization, have gone rogue and are now plotting to seize control of the U.S. government”. The only person capable of stopping them is Clay, “the deadliest operative the organization has ever produced”.

In the trailer, Jeremy Irons’ Wallace Westwyld—returning from the first film—delivers the pitch: “You’re the only one who can stop them”. He warns Clay that the Beekeepers “want complete control of the government, and they’re prepared to kill anyone who gets in their way”.

The Trailer’s Most Memorable Moments

The 1969 Dodge Super Bee

The trailer’s standout reveal is Clay’s new ride: a 1969 Dodge Super Bee, “fully loaded with stinger,” as Irons’ character puts it—meaning a passenger-side minigun. It’s a thematically perfect vehicle for a man who calls himself a beekeeper, and it’s the kind of gloriously over-the-top touch that made the first film such a guilty pleasure.

The Flamethrower Moment

The trailer’s most talked-about scene involves Statham jamming a flamethrower into a henchman’s mouth before delivering the ice-cold line, “Next time, don’t be so hotheaded”. The moment has already gone viral, with fans comparing the fiery attack to Marvel’s Ghost Rider. “Turned that brudda into Ghost Rider real quick?” one user joked on X.

The Bee Swarm

In one of the film’s most unusual action sequences, Clay releases a swarm of actual bees into a locked room to attack his enemies. It’s a callback to the first film’s unusual mix of grounded action and insect-themed tactics, and it fits the franchise’s peculiar identity.

The Stakes Escalate

The trailer also hints at a larger conspiracy. Wallace reveals that the President has been kidnapped, raising the stakes significantly. The footage shows Clay battling soldiers, using a turret-equipped vehicle to wipe out enemies on an airstrip, and engaging in multiple street fights where he turns his enemies’ own weapons against them.

The Cast: Returning Favorites and New Blood

Statham leads the returning cast alongside Jeremy Irons as Wallace Westwyld and Jemma Redgrave. Also returning are Emmy Raver-Lampman and Bobby Naderi.

New to the franchise are Pom Klementieff (best known as Mantis in the Guardians of the Galaxy films), who joins as the villain, and Canadian wrestling star Adam Copeland. Yara Shahidi also joins the cast.

Behind the Scenes: A New Director Takes the Helm

David Ayer, who directed the first Beekeeper, has handed the reins to Timo Tjahjanto—a director known for his gore-oriented, hard-hitting action films like The Night Comes for Us and The Shadow Strays. The change in director suggests the sequel will push the intensity even further than the original.

The screenplay was written by Kurt Wimmer (who penned the first film) alongside Zak Penn (Free Guy, Ready Player One). The trailer is set to Metallica’s “For Whom the Bell Tolls,” adding to the film’s aggressive, heavy-metal energy.

Release Date and What’s Next

The Beekeeper 2 opens in theaters on January 15, 2027. The first film grossed over $162 million worldwide on a $40 million budget, making a sequel inevitable. With a new director, an expanded cast, and a trailer that promises even more outrageous action, the sequel is poised to be one of early 2027’s biggest theatrical events.

The first Beekeeper

worked because it embraced its own absurdity. It was a movie about a beekeeper-assassin taking down a phishing empire, and it knew exactly what it was. The sequel looks to double down on that formula—bigger weapons, bigger stakes, and a plot that pits Adam Clay against the only organization that could possibly understand him.

If the trailer is any indication, The Beekeeper 2 is going to be loud, violent, and completely unapologetic about it. And for Statham fans, that’s exactly the point.
